THE EXISTING AUSTERE AND INSTITUTIONAL CHARACTER
The urban context is dominated by massive buildings with rigorous, ordered facades,
dominated by verticality. The ordered rhythm of the new volume continues this character of the area and responds very well for the requested
image of a library.
MASS AND PROPORTION
The dimension of the proposed building is small if we compare it with the surrounding buildings but the rigorous character
of the structure brings the impression of heaviness and stateliness.
SPACE HIERARCHY
An apparently monotonous structure of the facade is interrupted by an unusual curve in order to create order in the space hierarchy.
The space between the new building and the old one is a noble space and a link between the street area and the library.
This intermediate space is an exterior foyer. The verticality of the structure can be experienced also from the inside by siting in the lecture area
organized on the perimeter of the plan. The core is a great place for depositing books.
